Vanderlande is the global market leader in baggage handling systems for airports and sorting systems for parcel and postal services. The company is also a leading supplier of warehouse automation solutions. Vanderlande has recently built a large advanced automated warehouse for one of the largest retailers in the world in Canada.
You will play a pivotal role in our support of this state-of-the-art warehouse. You will lead your maintenance team and work closely with other teams to ensure efficient on-time preventive maintenance and swift troubleshooting when incidents arise with the material handling systems.
The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of warehouse operations, is comfortable with high-tech systems and automation, is customer service oriented, has experience in leading teams, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
This role is crucial to our mission of providing the best service to our customer to make sure their business can thrive in Canada.
Promote and manage compliance with all relevant company policies and government regulations including, but not limited to: OSHA, company health and safety plans, contingency plans, and company training.
Lead by example through results-focused, people-centered direction, feedback, and coaching.
Develop effective processes to maintain system performance through shift changes, high volume periods, and irregular operations in conjunction with other stakeholders
Manage a team of control room operators who monitor system and respond to alerts and alarms
Manage employee schedules and daily work assignments in conjunction with other stakeholders
Participate and lead (as necessary) team, site, and customer meetings to ensure open, effective communications centered on collaborative efforts to meet production goals
Train and coach, the control room operators on the system and the standard operating procedures
Prepare and maintain reports and records on the system performances, issues, and improvements
Manage the recruitment, scheduling, and training of temporary workers from a third-party agency for cleaning and unjamming tasks
Ensure the compliance of the temporary workers with the system standards and safety procedures
Coordinate with the agency on the feedback and performance of the temporary workers
Required Education and Experience:
~ Minimum 3 year technical experience in an industrial environment
~ Experience working in stressful environments like a control room
~2 years of prior experience as a Control Room operator
~ Valid Driver’s License

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Strong Microsoft office skills – Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
Organizational and time management skills
Working knowledge of computers and equipment
This is a full-time position / Office hours with exceptional replacement
While performing the maintenance aspect duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to the material handling system, mechanical parts and vibration.
They will take the lead to identify and fix mechanical problems with machinery, and they commonly work with greasy parts and tools, sometimes in uncomfortable positions.
Regularly required to talk and hear through a handheld radio and telephone. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This is a full-time, nonexempt position, eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Salary range for this position is CAD$79,000 to CAD$84,000
