Community Development Director

Primary Purpose: The Director of Development is responsible for developing major gift fundraising plans, primarily in Regina and the surrounding region, to significantly increase and diversify revenue for the University of Saskatchewan. The Director will provide high-level expertise, direction and facilitation in the development, and implementation of fundraising and alumni strategies designed to maximize long term support for, and engagement with, the university.
Nature of Work: Under the strategic direction of the Associate Vice-President, Development, working in collaboration with multiple team members, the Director will drive the development of cultivation/solicitation fundraising plans and projects, leading priority initiatives that support major gifts, designed to lift the profile of the University of Saskatchewan as a major destination for alumni and philanthropic engagement.
The Director will build and manage alumni relationships while working closely with development professionals to identify donor prospects.
This position makes discretionary decisions and uses excellent judgment to determine appropriate procedures in alignment with legislative requirements and institutional policies. University Relations is responsible for institutional advancement programs and as such is dedicated to supporting the related needs of all colleges, units and the university as a whole. Provide strategic fundraising expertise for fundraising initiatives identified by senior leadership. This includes providing high-level support for programs and projects requiring major gift support.
Work collaboratively with college advancement colleagues and appropriate members of the University of Relations team to ensure all aspects of college and university advancement activity are closely aligned with relevant institutional policies and guidelines.
Establish, enhance and promote the university as a leader in donor-centered development.
Provide expertise and guidance on alumni engagement principles and practices to support colleagues and partners across campus in achieving their alumni engagement goals in alignment with the priorities of the alumni relations office.
Undergraduate degree required; Previous experience in alumni relations and events management would be an asset.
Previous experience working with volunteers and an interest in community/stakeholder engagement is preferred.
Success in building and managing collaborative relationships and managing multiple projects.
Ability to compose professional level correspondence and meet deadlines with excellent proofreading skills and command of language, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
High competence in computer programs, web-based content management systems and applications, and digital/social media platforms. Knowledge of BBCRM - Engage CRM is highly desirable.
Knowledge of the University of Saskatchewan’s culture, issues, goals, and stakeholders is an asset.
Proven success in building productive, long-term relationships with senior university and campus administrators, faculty, staff, donors, alumni, and other external stakeholders.
Strong commitment to team building and professional development.
