Human Resources Manager

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Human Resources Manager will lead and facilitate the development of a highly effective workforce through effective management of diverse Human Resources functions. With a dedicated focus on positively impacting the lives of our community members, this position will provide comprehensive Human Resources support to all We Wai Kai departments on both the administration and the economic development side, which requires knowledge of the Canadian Labour Code and the BC Employment Standards Act. Key responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy administration, offboarding, and overall Human Resources support.
Overseeing the recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure a seamless integration of new employees.
Developing a recruitment strategy to attract and retain high-performing individuals to continue to support rapid growth within the organization.
Working closely with the managers to manage and monitor employee performance to foster professional growth and development.
Conducting annual training needs analysis and recommending learning and development plans for individuals and the organization as a whole.
Coordinating and organizing ongoing training sessions to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
Developing, implementing, and maintaining We Wai Kai Human Resources policies and procedures for both federally and provincially regulated operations.
Guiding, managing and tracking the performance management process as well as ongoing performance and employee relations matters.
Working with the benefits and payroll administrator to ensure the total compensation program (pay, benefits and related compensatory items) remains competitive in relation to local/provincial market conditions.
Developing effective coaching and coaching management techniques to work through issues of concern, along with the involvement of others as appropriate.
Attending and presenting at employee and management meetings.
Drafting briefing notes, discussion papers, policy procedures, and reports as required.
A post-secondary degree with a focus on human resources, business, or psychology.
3 – 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Experience creating policies and processes.
In-depth knowledge of both provincial and federal labour legislation.
Exceptional knowledge and understanding of other related HR legislation.
Demonstrated open, participative management style with the ability to make tough decisions as they are required.
Benefits administration experience would be an asset.
Demonstrated ability to foster learning & development of others through coaching, managing performance and mentoring to stretch and challenge others to develop and achieve new skills/competencies.
A clear criminal record check and a valid driver’s license are a condition of employment.
