Bilingual Disability Claim ManagerLocation: Remote - Canada Please note the base salary will be determined by the successful candidate's education, skills and experience. Come make an impact on people's wellbeing and future.Impactful work - get the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that have a positive impact on our customers, our company, and society as a whole.Play an integral role - this is an opportunity that allows for you to grow your skills, while directly contributing to the business unit you are a part of.Deliver excellence - provide a personal, accurate, professional, and courteous service and resolution to our customers.What you’ll be working onInvestigate, evaluate and determine eligibility for initial and ongoing payment claims based on medical information, job requirements, non-medical factors, contract terms and department/industry protocols within established service standards Manage active claims duration by utilizing best practices Interview claimants and employers through telephone interviewsEnsure accurate and timely documentation of all communication with customers Formulate and implement a detailed case management plan on each file with a focus on a timely, sustainable and safe return to work; interact with and appropriately challenge treating physicians and employers; make referrals for independent medical assessments and to alternate insurance organizations (federal, provincial and private insurers)Collaborate with in-house return to work facilitators to design and monitor return to work programsCollaborate with team members to exchange ideas, gather information and offer solutions on claims Based on department standards, ensure proactive communication with our customers regarding claim status and developmentsAccountable for positive file resolution and appropriate outcomesWhat we’re looking for you to haveBilingualism (English/French) is required1+ years of experience in long term disability or short term disability claim managementKnowledge of medical terminology and Disability Management best practices/protocolsKnowledge of relevant provincial employment legislation and legal requirements Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet and database software, and simple numerical calculationsWell-developed time management and organizational skillsWell-developed written/verbal communication and interpersonal skillsIf you are applying for a position which is open to applicants across Canada, unless otherwise indicated in the position, language proficiency in English is required for communicating with customers, advisors, or employees across Canada.Beyond the salaryFor regular full-time positions, Empire Life offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes:Competitive salaries with annual pay increasesAnnual bonus program, which recognizes both strong company performance and individual contributionsCompetitive uncapped commission for sales positionsA comprehensive employer-funded benefits package that includes life insurance, disability, health and dental and a generous health accountFlexible work arrangements and an annual allotment of personal health days.Four weeks annual vacation from hire dateA defined contribution pension plan with generous employer matchingTop up programs for parental leave and compassionate leaveEmployer-sponsored wellness and recognition programsA cash employee referral programTo learn more about working at Empire Life, visit to know usEmpire life is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
