Laboratory Technician - Food Microbiology

Bureau Veritas is looking for a Laboratory Technician - Microbiology to join our food laboratory in Ville Saint-Laurent.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Performbasic testing procedures for food samples;
  • Ensurea high level of accuracy in sample preparation;
  • Assist with media preparation and decontamination;
  • Employproper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials;
  • If needed, help at sample reception;
  • FollowStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting any laboratory work or procedure;
  • Prioritizedaily workload based on sample and client requirement;
  • Identifyany non-routine samples and seeks guidance on procedures for handling;
  • Identifyand communicatenon-conformances to Supervisor;
  • Maintaintraining records and relevant qualifications;
  • Meetquality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements;
  • Keepwork area clean, neat and organized;
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Have experience in a laboratory is an asset;
  • Have a positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Have good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills;
  • Work wellboth independently and as part of a team;
  • Are detail orientated and have record keeping skills;
  • Learnquickly and are able to perform repetitive tasks;
  • Adapt well to a changing environment;

Working conditions:

  • Work schedule : 2PM-10PM(depending on needs, possibility of overtime on weekdays and/or week-ends)
  • Status: Full time, 37.5h/week
