This is a multi-disciplinary technical position with a strong emphasis on instrumentation, controls, electrical design. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of control systems, AC/DC power distribution, electrical schematics, AutoCAD, and control panel design.

You will work closely with Project Engineers, Engineering, and the project implementation team to develop accurate, practical, and project-specific drawings from design through field installation and as-built documentation.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Design and develop control panel and site drawings based on Project Engineer I/O lists, bills of materials, project specifications, and site pictures
  • Reference site pictures to develop AutoCAD drawing, capturing all components and aspects of clients site.
  • Determine appropriate panel sizing and develop component layouts.
  • Design AC and DC power distribution within control panels.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and related documentation.
  • Maintain drawing revisions throughout the project lifecycle, including:
    • Approved for Submittal
    • Approved for Construction
    • Approved for Field Installation
    • As-Built
  • Develop and maintain drawings using various versions of AutoCAD.
  • Convert and prepare drawings and technical documentation for PDF and project submission.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications to incorporate bills of materials and other project documentation into AutoCAD drawings.
  • Work closely with Project Engineers and the project implementation team to ensure designs meet project specifications and technical requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a library of commonly used panel components and design standards to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Assist Engineering with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company-wide design standards.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.

Participate in field investigations as required to document existing control panels and electrical systems.

  • Provide technical support to project and field teams as required.
  • Potential travel to project sites or other company locations as required.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and technical drafting.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical schematics and electronic controls.
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC power distribution.
  • Understanding of electrical relay logic.
  • Strong understanding of control panel components and their functionality.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, I/O lists, bills of materials, and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and willing to support other technical disciplines when required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Assets:

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electric.
  • PLC and RTU hardware knowledge.
  • Experience with industrial automation, SCADA, instrumentation, or control systems.
  • Knowledge of heat gain and power consumption calculations.
  • Experience developing drawings of existing panels through field investigation.
  • Experience with control panel manufacturing, wiring, or field installat
