Toronto ON, Canada JUMP Math Full time

JUMP Math is a Canadian charity with global reach that empowers teachers and educators to multiply the potential in every classroom through research-informed, curriculum-aligned resources and approaches that ignite and nurture an enduring understanding and love of math in every student. Reporting to the Publisher, the Curriculum Writer creates high-quality math teaching and learning content, for use in digital and/or print environments, consistent with the mission and pedagogy of JUMP Math. The Curriculum Writer uses the JUMP Math philosophy and current academic research and educator input to develop math teaching and learning materials (print and digital), to be used in a variety of learning settings.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours/week) as a 6-month contract role with no benefits.

This role must be located in the Greater Toronto area and is intended to be mainly remote but you may be required to attend in person meetings at the JUMP Math offices or other locations in the GTA.

Develop, adapt,and/or digitize lesson plans and supporting teacher content (blackline masters, digital lesson slides, assessment materials, etc.) in accordance with the project plan and relevant curricula, research, educator input, and JUMP Math methodology;
Develop, adapt,and/or digitize student content in accordance with the project and lesson plans and relevant curricula, research, educator input, and JUMP Math methodology;
Meet periodically with the project lead Curriculum Writer, Founder or other Curriculum Writers for consultation or guidance;
Consult existing resources in the process of adapting and digitizing content;
Coordinate unitcontent with other units within and across grades;
Respond to comments of reviewers, Editors, and Graphic Designers to modify unit content;
Review units after editing and final art and design work added by the production team;
May from time to time be asked to assume other responsibilities including those of Senior Curriculum Writers.

Ability to express ideas clearly in simple language
Ability to consider learning from the perspective of the weakest and the strongest students
Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word

Creative and innovative problem-solver
Adaptable/flexible
Bachelor’s degree in education and/or mathematics-related field
Experience using JUMP Math materials or the JUMP Math approach an asset
Expository writing experience an asset
Ability to work remotely
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems an asset
