We are seeking a seasoned Director of Finance for a 3-month contract to oversee financial operations within a healthcare organization with an annual budget of $30–$40 million . The ideal candidate will have experience in Ontario health sector reporting , ministry of health compliance , and/or not-for-profit (NPO) financial management. This role is based onsite in Toronto and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, including Ontario Ministry of Health reporting requirements.
  • Develop and monitor financial policies, budgets, forecasts, and controls aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial healthcare funding guidelines and other statutory obligations.
  • Support audits, prepare year-end financial statements, and address audit recommendations.
  • Lead the preparation and management of budgets for the $30–$40 million portfolio.
  • Conduct variance analyses and provide insights to guide decision-making.
  • Monitor cash flow and oversee funding allocations, ensuring efficient resource utilizations
  • Supervise and mentor finance team members, ensuring high-performance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with operational goal

Qualifications and Skills

  • CPA designation (mandatory)
  • 5–7 years of progressive finance experience in the healthcare sector or not-for-profit organizations
  • Direct experience with Ontario health sector financial reporting and ministry of health compliance is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of NPO financial management is acceptable if healthcare experience is limited.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and reporting tools used in the healthcare or NPO sectors.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and communicate effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
