Description du Poste

En tant que Concepteur-trice technique chez Krafton Montréal, votre responsabilité principale sera de créer et mettre en œuvre des éléments de conception complexes, techniques et systémiques dans un jeu. En tant que référence technique au sein de votre équipe, vous fournirez un soutien et des conseils à vos pairs au besoin. Vous pourriez également être appelé à devenir l'expert technique du projet sur un élément spécifique d'un jeu. Vous devrez établir des flux de travail et des lignes directrices futures pour la production complète de contenu. Cette connaissance devra être partagée sur l'ensemble du projet avec une documentation technique. Vos compétences créatives et techniques seront essentielles pour façonner l'expérience du joueur et garantir une expérience de jeu de haute qualité.

Ce que vous ferez:

  • Conception collaborative : Créer et mettre en œuvre les éléments techniques de plusieurs fonctionnalités de jeu avec les directeurs techniques, les programmeurs et les collègues d'autres domaines d'emploi.
  • Leadership technique : Agir en tant qu'expert technique sur un sujet spécifique, superviser les outils et la documentation, fournir une assistance technique, et définir et promouvoir les meilleures pratiques.
  • Organisation des données : Participer à l'optimisation et à la validation des données, en tenant compte du budget et en veillant au respect des normes techniques.
  • Prototypage de conception : Effectuer des tâches de production au sein de l'équipe de conception de jeu et de niveau en prototypant des fonctionnalités de gameplay.
  • Conception avancée : Concevoir et mettre en œuvre des éléments de conception plus complexes, abstraits, techniquement exigeants ou affectant l'ensemble du jeu.
  • Documentation : Créer une documentation technique détaillée telle que des lignes directrices de production ou des meilleures pratiques pour les concepteurs de niveau et les autres créateurs de contenu.
  • Correction de bugs : Être capable d'investiguer les bugs de production et trouver des solutions pour les résoudre.

Ce que vous apportez:

  • Minimum de 7 ans d'expérience pertinente dans le domaine des jeux vidéo AAA.
  • Expérience avec divers moteurs de jeu et plateformes (ex : Unreal) et connaissance de leurs limitations.
  • Familiarité avec la plupart des phases majeures du développement (concept, pré-production, production, débogage, support, etc.).
  • Solide connaissance des outils de script VISUEL, tels que Unreal Blueprint, ou d'autres logiciels d'édition de niveau.
  • Familiarité avec les programmes de conception 3D (ex : Maya, 3ds Max, Blender).
  • Excellentes compétences en résolution de problèmes et en communication, avec la capacité de collaborer efficacement au sein d'une équipe.
  • Passion pour les jeux vidéo et une compréhension approfondie de divers genres de jeux, mécaniques et principes de conception de niveaux.
  • Capacité à travailler dans des délais serrés et à s'adapter aux exigences changeantes du projet.
  • Familiarité avec les logiciels de suivi des bugs (ex : Jira), les systèmes de gestion de versions (ex : Perforce).
  • Connaissance de la suite Microsoft Office (en particulier Excel, PowerPoint et Teams) recommandée.
  • Une expérience en programmation est un atout.
  • Un diplôme de baccalauréat en design, informatique ou dans un domaine connexe est un plus.

Job Description

As a Technical Designer at Krafton Montreal, your primary responsibility will be to create and implement complex, technical, and systemic design elements in a game. As a technical reference within your team, you'll provide support and advice to your peers as needed. You may also be called upon to become the project’s technical expert on a specific element of a game. You will need to establish future workflows and guidelines for complete content production. This knowledge will need to be shared across the entire project with technical documentation. Your creative and technical skills will be instrumental in shaping the player's experience and ensuring a high-quality gaming experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative Design: Create and implement the technical elements of multiple game features with technical directors, programmers, and colleagues from other job fields.
  • Technical Leadership: Act as a technical expert on a specific topic, oversee tools and documentation, provide technical assistance, and define and promote best practices.
  • Data Organisation: Participate in data optimization and validation, taking budget into account, and ensuring that technical standards are met.
  • Design Prototyping: Perform production tasks within the game and level design team by prototyping gameplay features.
  • Advanced Designing: Design and implement more complex, abstract, technically challenging, or game-wide design elements in a game.
  • Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation like production guideline or best practices for Level Designers and other content creators.
  • Bug Fixing: Be able to investigate production bugs and find solutions to resolve them.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Minimum of 7 years of pertinent experience in AAA gaming.
  • Experience with various game engines and platforms (ex: Unreal) & their limitations.
  • Familiarity with most major phases of development (concept, pre-prod, production, debugging, support, etc.).
  • Strong Knowledge of VISUAL scripting tools, such as Unreal Blueprint, or other level editing software.
  • Familiarity with 3D design software programs (ex: Maya, 3ds Max, Blender).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of various game genres, mechanics, and level design principles.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software (ex: Jira), version management systems (ex: Perforce).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) is recommended.
  • Programming experience is a plus.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, or a related field, is a plus.
