Job Description

The Municipal Utilities department is looking for a full-time temporary Landfill Attendant to assist with the day-to-day running of the Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management.

TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist the Recycling Coordinator in maintaining records, reporting, and tracking of the County recycling, Alberta Recycling Management Authority, and any other recycling program supported by the County, and work with contractors to collect recycled product streams.
  • Identification of recycled products, household hazardous waste, sorting, separation, and packaging of recycled products for transport.
  • Assisting customers with recycling information and proper use of transfer station areas.
  • Assist in coordination, planning, and participation of County sponsored community and recycling events.

  • Equipment operation (skid steer, tool cat).
  • Maintaining the landfill facilities and grounds.
  • Spotting loads and educating users.
Qualifications
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Clean criminal records check and driver's abstract
  • Previous landfill experience is an asset
  • Farm machinery and/or equipment operation is an asset.
  • Ability to effectively and courteously interact with waste haulers, the public and co-workers
  • Willing and able to undertake labour (lifting, sweeping, cleaning, shoveling)
  • Landfill and/or Transfer Station Certification considered an asset.
Additional Information

Term: This is a long term full-time temporary role starts from May 2024 to cover a maternity leave (end of contract for this role is being decided).

Work Schedule:

This full-time, temporary position entails a 40-hour work week. This role also qualifies for benefits.

Hourly Pay: $32.81 to $38.60.
