We are a fast-growing language school dedicated to providing high quality, fun and engaging Mandarin programs. We are running a 8-week Summer Camp in-person program in 2024 (July 2-Aug 23) and are in need of two Summer Camp Leaders. There will be a 2-week training/planning period before the first day of camp.

Note: for this position, the camp will be operating in Markham, however, the training/preparation will take place at our headquarters in Midtown Toronto.

  • The Camp Leader will plan and prepare the lessons & activities of the bilingual Mandarin language camp.
  • The Camp Leader will work with the Head Teacher at Panda Mandarin to ensure the programming reflects & adheres to our core principles, teaching style, and the learning goals of the camp. The Camp Leader needs to have the skills needed to interact with other people on the team.
  • The Camp Leader must ensure a fun yet safe environment for the students and be able to plan each day accordingly. The Camp Leader works in a team with other camp counsellors to deliver the camp program. The activities they will deliver can include storytelling, games, arts & crafts, STEM, outdoor recreation, dance with the goal of Mandarin language learning for the students. The Camp Leader will be a leader & mentor to both the students and lesser experienced counsellors.
  • The Camp Leader will greet students & parents at their arrival and get students ready for pick-up at the end of the day. The Camp Leader should have customer service skills that are required to interact with clients.
  • The Camp Leader may need to give updates or share information to the parent about the activities in the camp that pertain to their child.
  • The Camp Leader will also need to document on key learning activities, accomplishments, and incidents for each student and may need to report them to the Head Teacher.
  • The Camp Leader must be able to use digital tools to help prepare and deliver some of the camp's day-to-day activities (Google Drive/Google Workspace/Google Classroom, Microsoft Office, Canva).
  • The Camp Leader must be able to speak & read Mandarin Chinese (Simplified).

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 weeks

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week

  • French not required

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Markham, ON L3R 1E1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
