We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Avionics Engineering Manager to lead and develop a high-performing team of 8-20 engineers (depending on project scope). This role is responsible for avionics system architecture, integration, and verification while ensuring compliance with certification and industry standards.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to drive innovation and ensure successful system development from design through to flight test and certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of aerospace engineers of various levels delivering the design, development, and integration of avionics and flight control systems.
  • Providing guidance for the team offering technical support for system architecture, requirements derivation, redundancy management, crew alerting, and aircraft autonomy.
  • Oversee engineers focused on system integration, verification, and validation in lab environments and on flight test aircraft.
  • Collaborate team leader across Supply Chain and Hardware/Software Design teams to manage requirements, obsolescence impacts, and technical evaluations.
  • Manage subcontractors, including Statements of Work (SOWs), specifications, interface control documents, and project schedules.
  • Take responsibility of ensuring avionics and flight control systems meet industry standards (DO-178, DO-254, DO-160, ARP4754A, ARP4761, 14 CFR Part 27/29).
  • Oversee activity with certification authorities (TCCA, FAA, EASA) to support regulatory approvals.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development for engineers within the team.
  • Manage project schedules, cost estimates, risks, and staffing requirements for avionics programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Significant of experience in a technical leadership or management role focused on Avionics and or Airbourne Software.
  • In depth experience in avionics systems development, integration, and testing.
  • Depp expertise to SME level for flight control systems, avionics hardware/software integration, and embedded RTOS environments.
  • Familiarity with safety assessment processes (FHA, SSA, FTA) and certification standards.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Strong ability to mentor and develop engineering teams.
