Who We Are

We're the only Canadian member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)—the largest collegiate sports organization in the world. Our student athletes represent SFU while competing nationally and internationally in 16 varsity sports within two member conferences - the Great Northwest Athletics Conference (GNAC) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).

About the Role

The Event Coordinator, Varsity Athletics plans and coordinates activities that support all home varsity games, initiatives, and special signature events for all Varsity Athletic programs. The role plans and executes the successful delivery of varsity events that enhance the prominence and community profile of SFU Athletics programs, managing all pre-, on-site, and post-event activities. The coordinator plays an integral role in coordinating external relations and community engagement initiatives, while evaluating events and projects to ensure goals and outcomes are aligned.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, qualities or core competencies needed to be successful in the role:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Arts or Education or a related field with two years of related experience, including project management, or an equivalent combination of education, and experience.

  • Excellent planning and project coordination skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and work cooperatively and effectively with others.
