Telesat Lightspeed, our revolutionary Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network, scheduled to begin service in 2027, will revolutionize global broadband connectivity for enterprise users by delivering a combination of high capacity, security, resiliency and affordability with ultra-low latency and fiber-like speeds. Telesat is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, and has offices and facilities around the world.
The company’s state-of-the-art fleet consists of 15 GEO satellites, the Canadian payload on ViaSat-1 and one LEO 3 demonstration satellite. Reporting to the Manager, Platform Engineering, the candidate provides technical leadership and specialist expertise required for the operation of Telesat’s development and test platforms. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring high quality standards of software throughout the systems development lifecycle. The candidate will work closely with the DevSecOps and development teams, and represent Platform Engineering in client meetings. The candidate will be required to develop metrics and presentations on results and trends, and be able to explain them to both a technical and non-technical audience.
Candidates must live in the Ottawa area or be willing to relocate to Ottawa. Relocation assistance will be provided to those who qualify.
Candidates must be willing to be onsite in office three (3) days per week.
Development and execution of test plans, test cases and scripts 
Development of automated test scripts and code that performs functional, performance, load as well as limits testing 
Development of test metrics and reporting capabilities 
Design, implement and maintain testing strategies and procedures 
Document and own the test processes and strategies 
Manage and lead a team of testers to ensure high-quality testing is delivered on time 
Coordinate with project managers and developers to ensure testing requirements are met 
Collaborate with the Platform Engineering team to ensure correct configuration and architecture of environments and tooling required for Test Engineering 
Track and monitor testing metrics, including code coverage, defect density, and testing progress 
Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to manage and prioritize testing efforts 
Development of reporting mechanisms and trending of testing efforts 
Work with the DevSecOps team to ensure test processes are implemented within the toolchain 
Passionately advocate for test engineering and quality practices within the organization 
Attend and present at ongoing project meetings and team standups on test activities, metrics and ongoing test and QA status 
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field 
Experience developing/using load testing tools and services such as BlazeMeter 
Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and processes 
Experience in Agile and DevOps methodologies 
Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of Cloud-based infrastructure and testing environments 
In-depth experience in Linux-based server environments 
Ability to speak effectively before groups of internal employees, communicate technical information, create, and deliver presentations and information sessions to both technical and nontechnical personnel 
Ability to create and maintain documentation and training materials, for technical staff and end-user audiences.
Capable of organizing projects effectively to achieve the desired results. 
Make decisions and recommendations requiring analysis and interpretation within established procedures. 

Generally comfortable working conditions with lifting and onsite installations. 
Moderate visual concentration in use of video display terminal. 
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
