Rearing all life stages of domestic and invasive species of insects.
- Preparing artificial foods specific to each colony of insect.
- Documenting records for each insect family (colony tracking, updating databases and inventories).

A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. EX1 - Experience rearing insects through their entire life cycle for scientific purposes.
EX2 - Experience compiling data and preparing summary reports.
EX4 - Experience using computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, and data analysis (e.g. Word perfect, Microsoft Word and Excel).
EX5 - Experience working in a team setting and training new staff.
K1 - Knowledge of rearing insects with aseptic techniques.
K3 - Knowledge of insect biological controls.
A1 - Ability to maintain records and scientific data.
A4 - Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Asset Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in a biological field related to the position.

Flexible working hours will be required to accommodate insect rearing schedules.
The candidate must be willing to conduct work almost exclusively in a laboratory and work on weekends and holidays.
