Legal Intern/ Researcher/ (Summer Student)
The PEI Human Rights Commission (HRC) is an independent organization whose purpose includes enforcing the PEI Human Rights Act through complaint, dispute resolution and adjudicative functions; and advising government in the field of human rights. Conducting human rights research and preparing related reports,
– Observing and in some cases, participating, in the investigation, resolution and adjudication of complaints.
Excellent research, writing and communication skill.
– Organized, independent, professional, and creative.
Post secondary student or recent graduate. Preference will be given to law students, however, students in Education, Social Justice, Indigenous Studies, Para-Legal or other relevant fields will be considered. Applicants with relevant work experience will also be considered.
Bilingualism will be considered an asset.
Funding for this application is provided, in part, by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, which does require applicants to be between 15-30 years of age at the start of employment, and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration Refugee Protection Act, and legally entitled to work in PEI.
