Scope (Purpose) As an HR Generalist for COG, you will be responsible for managing a range of human resources functions to support the engagement and development of our employees. 75 professional and engineering staff members to provide guidance, support, and solutions in areas such as recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, organizational development, salary administration, benefits program design and HR governance and compliance.
Attract, qualify, and retain quality candidates for highly specialized technical and engineering roles as well as administrative support staff
Support the learning, growth, and development of the team to enhance capabilities within the organization
Provide guidance and input regarding compensation programs, performance management, company policies and compliance with COG governance as well as relevant legislation
Recruitment and Onboarding
Collaborate with hiring managers and the HR administrator to identify staffing needs
Support managers and support staff with the full recruitment process including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection.
Assist with the sourcing, selection, and contract administration for search firms
Make recommendations for terms of offer and help with negotiations as needed
Reinforce adherence to COG core values and support initiatives related to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, charity, and staff events
Oversee annual employee survey and make recommendations to enhance engagement based on the results
Facilitate annual Performance Planning and Development Cycle, including goal setting, feedback, and documentation as well as assisting with design of Individual Development Plans and succession strategies
Assist Managers to address employee performance issues up to and including the termination process
Provide input regarding the design, communication, and budgeting for employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks
Maintain and update the employee handbook and company HR policies
Ensure all internal HR policies, procedures, templates, and guides are current and effective, automating workflow where possible
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to ESA, AODA, Human Rights, Health and Safety, Privacy, and other relevant legislation
Assist in the development and implementation of employee development plans and competency matrices
Working with the HR administrator, maintain accurate and confidential HR records, including HR files and payroll changes
Generate HR reports and metrics as needed
BA Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent
~ 3-5 years’ proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar role
~ Knowledge of Payroll using ADP, Ceridian, or other enterprise system an asset
~ Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite

This role is based at the COG office in Toronto with the opportunity to work remotely 1-3 days per week.
