Lead Engineer, CMS & Publishing - News Corp
News Corp’s journalists continue to scale up content creation (articles, podcasts, video, and live events) to engage and inform our audiences. NewsPress will coordinate the design, build, operation and sharing of world-class publishing technology. NewsPress combines WordPress & Gutenberg for authoring with other tools and services built by the technology teams from across News Corp. The majority of the services are hosted within managed AWS environments or via the VIP Go platform.
Managing priorities
Contribute proactively to performance optimization
Contribute to efficient coding standards
Have experience in custom WordPress plugin development
Experience in React + Gutenberg dynamic block creation
Effective knowledge of unit testing/automation
A balance of Front-End, Full-Stack, Back-End and Plug-In speciality across the WordPress engine is desired.
At least 3 years of experience leading engineering teams (managing teams of 10+ engineers).

At least 5 years of hands-on coding experience.
At least 2 years experience in recruiting and leading local and offshore quality engineering teams, including defining roles, responsibilities, processes, and communications.
Experience with WordPress hosting platforms: in particular Automattic’s VIP-Go and the associated deployment processes
Strong Experience in WordPress, Gutenberg, MySQL, AWS, GCP, CircleCI, Jenkins
Experience with CMSs, DevOps and Design Patterns
Experience with container architectures and associated management platforms and technologies (Kubernetes, Docker and ECS)
BS and/or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
