VIE - Process Engineer (Pointe-Claire) - H/F

Reporting to the Plant manager, the Process VIE will be responsible for running projects improving process controls in our aluminum plant. The role will also support day-to-day production as well as lead problem solving activities to address production issues, interacting with all supporting departments in the plant. Additionally, the role will support R&D projects with the local and central process team.

These projects will deal with all process steps of the production lines (forming, cutting, punching) and will target improvement on safety, quality, reliability (increasing line availability), developing standards, training, and production cost reduction.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop a culture of process control where key leading parameters are monitored proactively and acted upon when outside the control limits,
  • Lead development of set up procedures and work instructions for different machines and products,
  • Set the process controls to ensure a consistent quality and repeatability at the highest level,
  • Assist in developing and implementing safe working procedures for autonomous maintenance,
  • Support root cause analysis on time and material losses with implementations of actions,
  • Lead development on production reporting on main production lines to identify losses,
  • Design / develop new process systems, analyze variations, and revise existing processes, develop and coordinate the implementation of solutions and corrective actions which contribute substantially to plant profitability,
  • Participate and run trials to evaluate equipment, process, and raw material opportunities in coordination with internal and external Services – Sharing results with written project or trial reports.

This is a 24-month mission.

Is this job for you ?
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering,
  • Creative problem-solving mindset and a hands-on approach,
  • Detail orientated, well organized and able to analyze data and write reports in a clear way,
  • Experience in project management and project engineering fundamentals,
  • Working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments,
  • Autonomous and resilient, with a prior experience in a manufacturing environment,
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken, both in English and French.
