We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 550+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 18 office locations in Canada. Job Description

As our business continues to grow and diversify, we are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent technical, communication, management, and interpersonal skills to play an important role on our Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) team. The successful candidate will be a client-focused professional with 10 to 15 years of experience in multi-disciplinary environmental assessments, permitting, compliance management and due diligence in the Mining Sector. The focus of the role, which will be based in Vancouver, will be to create, maintain and grow client relationships within the mining sector, with specific focus in Western Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Your Role:

• Collaborate with the National Mining and Minerals Sector Leader to develop and implement strategic plans to expand ESIA services to Mining sector clients, with the aim of enhancing SLR’s market presence and client portfolio in Western Canada.
• Provide strategic and tactical guidance to clients on requirements relating to environmental assessments and permitting in the context of local, provincial, federal and/or international requirements.
• Manage the execution of multi-disciplinary environmental assessments in accordance with provincial and federal requirements.
• Lead the preparation of high quality environmental permitting documentation.
• Develop environmental and social management systems and management plans in support of new project development.
• Collaborate with project engineering and planning teams to integrate environmental and social constraints into project development plans.
• Develop and implement auditable environmental compliance management systems.
• Mentor staff and provide guidance on QA/QC.
• Promote and maintain a positive work environment through a culture of teamwork and cooperation.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree specializing in a related technical environmental discipline or equivalent experience. 
• Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience in environmental assessments.
• Extensive project / sector management experience involving fully managing multiple projects from beginning to end.
• A strong understanding of the British Columbia and Canadian environmental regulatory and permitting requirements.
• An understanding of international environmental and social impact assessment standards, guidelines and processes is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining a team of professionals to support projects and the business.
• Demonstrated track record of risk, financial and budget management.
• A skilled leader with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to travel within Canada periodically, as required.
