About Our Client: Our client is an ambulatory centre in Richmond Hill.

Reporting to the Chief Operations and Chief Nursing Officer, the Director will manage interprofessional staff consisting of operating room registered nurses, anesthesia assistants, techs, and other healthcare professionals. The role of the Director of Perioperative and Procedures involves overseeing the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of the portfolio finances, including both capital and operational budgets. Ensuring daily operations of the department are conducted safely, respectfully, and progressively is essential, which includes managing surgical processes, policies and procedures, and education. The role also entails leading and mentoring the quality process in surgical services and fostering shared governance within the department. The Director of Perioperative Services will oversee the operating rooms, procedure rooms, pre-admission, Post Anesthetic Care Unit, Same Day Unit and Endoscopy procedures.

Developing, implementing and leading short and long-term plans which support and advance unit priorities.
Hiring competent and qualified multi-professional personnel and coordinating an orientation program that will foster success on the unit.
Managing, motivating and providing professional/clinical leadership to multi-generational/interprofessional teams; Transfer of Accountability at all transition points of care and at the beginning of each shift.
Supporting educational strategies to enhance staff knowledge with respect to professional nursing, health discipline, clinical, administrative staff practices and patient care.
Performing planning, quality management and operations responsibilities, including implementing quality improvement and other initiatives in the clinical area(s) to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
Collecting, analyzing and disseminating quality data to the team to promote continuous quality improvement, maintaining accountability for the quality and integrity of data reported to external agencies, e.g., Maintaining a physical environment that promotes patient healing, supports staff in the delivery of safe patient care and meets fire and safety codes.
Participating in special projects and corporate management responsibilities that support and advance company goals and objectives.
Maintaining accountability for planning and managing the department’s financial resources and networking and developing partnerships with internal and external agencies to meet the needs of the patient population.

Develops, implements, manages and reviews short- and long-term plans for the clinical area(s) which are in alignment with organizational goals and strategies; Implements quality management techniques designed to advance the services provided by the unit, including conducting bullet rounds, daily team huddles, continually reviewing the flow of patients and taking appropriate action to ensure the efficient functioning of the unit.
Monitors quality improvement outcomes regularly and coaches staff to ensure that continuous quality improvement initiatives are incorporated into day-to-day activities.
Ensures the clinical area(s) and staff are meeting external quality standards such as Accreditation and Specialty Standards, e.g., Theoretical and practical experience in adult education required.
Educational program planning, development and evaluation preferred.
Knowledge of operating rooms and managing within the perioperative environment is essential.
Strong teaching and adult learning skills required.
Superior communication, decision-making, problem-solving, facilitation and strategic planning skills

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent experience plus completion of a nursing program (RN) and an Ontario College of Nurses certification required.
