The Medical Lead, Saanich Peninsula Primary Episodic Care Clinic, is a co-leadership position with operational decision-making responsibilities. With the position’s co-leader, the Medical Lead works proactively with others (including patients) to enhance teamwork (including collaboration between physicians and staff) and to facilitate continuous quality improvement of episodic primary care service at the Peninsula Health Unit in partnership with community physicians and physicians at SPH. This position reports to the Clinical Director, Saanich Peninsula, Salt Spring Island and Outer Gulf Islands.

Main responsibilities of this position:
1. Leadership: Co-leads activities to ensure physicians and staff work as a team to monitor and improve service delivery; Links with appropriate Division Heads and Chiefs of Staff to address matters of physician governance, including professional medical practice issues.
2. Operations & Quality: Implements processes and structures to engage physicians and staff in continuous quality improvement of service delivery; Monitors team budget and performance jointly with Co-Leader, and makes course corrections when necessary; Initiates investigations of team-related PSLS and PCQO events.
3. Change Management: Acts as change management ‘champion’ to engage and support physicians and staff through change.
4. Informatics: Leads team activities that advance technology and data use to improve service delivery using the electronic health records (EHR) in collaboration with the Quality Systems team.
5. Planning: Assesses, monitors and anticipates team resource needs and works with medical leaders and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within available resources.

The Saanich Peninsula, the farm and food shopping basket of the South Island, extends north from Victoria to the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, a quick half-hour drive on the multi-lane Highway 17 (aka the Pat Bay Highway), or hit the backroads to see rolling farmland, vineyards, home studios, and exquisite valley views.

The District of North Saanich is home to the Victoria International Airport and a ferry terminal in Swartz Bay (BC Ferries to Vancouver and the Gulf Islands).

Brentwood Bay is perched at the edge of the kayak-friendly Saanich Inlet not far from The Butchart Gardens, a floral wonderland in a reclaimed limestone quarry that has welcomed visitors since 1904.

Not far from the airport and ferry terminal off the Pat Bay Highway, Sidney has evolved over the last few decades from a sleepy residential haven into a charming, pedestrian- and bike-friendly destination for shopping, dining, and leisurely strolls by the sea. Visit the kid-friendly Aquarium of the Salish Sea at the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre, catch a show at the Mary Winspear Centre, embark on a whale-watching expedition, or get active when exploring the town’s two artificial reefs on a diving adventure or by renting a kayak and paddling across to Sidney Spit in the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve.
