Manufacturing Engineer

Position
The role will support the organization with all facets of manufacturing including life project management, specification development, equipment development, debug and installation and continuous improvement of our processes. The role will support the customer requirements in the design, build, launch and production support of high-quality magnesium die-castings.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in capital expenditures process. Writing detailed specifications for the purchase of new or replacement capital and tooling.
- Overseeing the acquisition and installation of new equipment.
- Sourcing and ordering capital equipment and tools for continuous improvement of existing systems, as well as stock items for current and new manufacturing components.
- Collaborating closely with suppliers to ensure that they are delivering products on time and to specification.
- Participate in interdepartmental team activities to accomplish goals.
- Project management: Continuous improvement of existing equipment. Implement modern technologies at manufacturing cells. Attending meetings, planning, receiving approvals, completing layouts, vendor visits for machining and assembly cells. Assist plant team members to achieve effective and efficient production processes, including the occasional supervision of co-op & production personnel. Completing reports as required.
- Communication: Acting as vendor liaison to ensure adequate communication on equipment and other purchases. Coordinating work to ensure on-time completion of projects.
- Troubleshooting, solving, and correcting failed or inconsistent manufacturing equipment and systems. Direct vendors on capital equipment designs based on Meridian Scope of Work and machine build standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ Degree or Technical Diploma in Engineering Discipline
- Minimum 7 years of automotive engineering experience
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience
- Project management designation (PMP)
- Awareness of magnesium safety and die casting knowledge.
- Excellent Mechanical, Hydraulic and Electrical knowledge with troubleshooting experience.
- Working knowledge of control systems (Allen Bradley/Siemens)
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, physics, costing, and value analysis
- Working knowledge of CAD/CAM systems, personal computers, and software.
