Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA) is CIBC’s central point-of-contact with global prudential regulators. The Director, GRA reports to the Senior Director, GRA and assists in fulfilling our mandate to advise on the governance and management of regulatory risk, the implementation of effective regulatory strategies and standards, and with internal and external communications of regulatory topics. The Director is also responsible for providing leadership, management and coaching to Senior Consultant(s) and Consultant(s) assigned to their area of accountability and general support to the Senior Vice-President & Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer, Vice President, EWC & GRA and the Senior Director GRA. 
You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.
Assist CIBC businesses in identifying, interpreting and assessing the impact of regulatory change for CIBC. Lead interactions and communications with Regulators, including regulatory reviews, regulatory communication, meetings and ad hoc requests.
Manage regulatory interactions within assigned portfolios (could include Capital Markets, Treasury, Technology, Infrastructure, etc.) that are highly complex in nature requiring experience in the relevant field and in-depth knowledge. You will lead the coordination of regulatory deliverables and support senior management and Board members in their interactions with regulators. Maintain knowledge of policy and legislative developments that could affect CIBC’s business objectives; translating these developments for internal audiences including the implication of existing and proposed regulations, and, where required, assist in the development of responses to Regulators. You will review and analyze various issues and risks in your assigned portfolios (including reviews of new initiatives).
Build effective partnerships by managing contacts with ExCo, senior business leaders and colleagues, both locally and globally, to facilitate appropriate information sharing, regulatory reviews and submissions, and project coordination.
Direct, motivate, develop and manage performance of key staff.
You can demonstrate experience in Financial Services with 5+ years in an advisory role and have an undergraduate or masters degree in business, finance or knowledge of regulatory compliance, internal control, audit or legal matters. It’s an asset if you have previous experience in Financial Services or working with regulators and have advanced knowledge of recent regulatory developments.
