Our client, a local engineering consulting firm for mechanical and electrical building services, is currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join their team immediately on a permanent full-time basis.

You will be joining a dynamic team of senior engineers who possess years of industry experience and knowledge. You will be working out of their office in Richmond Hill, Ontario.


with both external project teams and internal design teams to develop the mechanical designs for a variety of buildings
consultation with clients on initial mechanical engineering designs including options for systems, space planning exercises, and general consultation
on technical requirements for mechanical systems from preliminary designs phases thru to project completion including coordinating mechanical services (and other services) for new construction, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, plumbing systems and drainage systems, and other mechanical requirements to suit client standards and building classifications
design meetings to represent the mechanical discipline
and verifying design calculations for mechanical systems
technical direction/markups and managing workload to complete projects successfully
and mentorship for intermediate and junior staff
the production of design documentation assigned projects including the presentation of information on drawing sets, coordination of mechanical systems with electrical, architectural, and other disciplines, and contract administration requirements
intermediate and junior staff members to ensure deadlines for projects are met


with a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Engineering
~8 years of mechanical engineering experience in the building service industry.
~ ability to effectively utilize AutoCAD and / or Revit to prepare mechanical design documents.
~ technical knowledge and ability to deliver mechanical designs for a variety of building types, including, but not limited to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, plumbing and drainage systems, building automation systems / controls, fire protection systems.
~ with load calculation software such as HAP, or energy modelling software would be an asset.
~ ability to lead a team of 3 to 4 mechanical staff in the development and delivery of construction documentation and associated engineering calculations, coordination of mechanical elements, and final verification of mechanical design of multiple projects simultaneously.
~ knowledge of electrical, architectural, and structural drawings and systems as it relates to construction and the implications on mechanical designs.
~ to effectively resolve construction issues, manage client expectations, review construction sites, liaise with contractors, and other contract administration requirements.
~ with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
