The successful candidate will be based on construction jobsites and consists of contract post-award duties in various heavy industrial construction projects. This position is open to independent contractors and self-employed individuals only (NOT salaried).

This position is seeking a professional with leadership qualities and is to work in challenging environments that will push you to the limit of your abilities.

Main duties and responsibilities

- Main point of contract for all commercial, administrative and contractual issues including invoicing and execution.

- Interpret and oversee compliance with subcontract requirements

- Track, prepare, review, evaluate and draft subcontract changes and variations,

- Implement and ensure client processes and corporate policies are adhere to by all parties

- Organize, chair and minute construction progress meetings with the subcontractors

- Reconcile, review and approve progress payments in a timely manner and maintains compliance with the prompt payment requirements defined by the subcontract, laws and statutory regulations;

- Proactively looking for issues, recommending mitigation measures, evaluating foreseeable issues and reporting as needed;

- Supportvarious departments as needed (construction, engineering, planning, cost control, document control, quality, HSE, etc.)

- Prepare and issue letters, memoranda, and other communications and notices

- Obtain approval documents related to contractual matters

- Collaborate and support stakeholders to find solutions regarding challenges or issues with the administration of subcontracts.

- Perform cost analysis, forecasts and trend reviews for managed subcontracts

- Track key performance indicators for reporting to the management team

- Monitor additional work, negotiate and avoid claims

- Maintain and keep all existing logs and tracking tools UpToDate

- ensure all contractual issues are resolved prior to subcontract close-out

- Subcontract close-out according to established client processes

- Identify and suggest continuous process improvements.

- Other duties as required.

Profile

- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in onsite contract management

- Fully bilingual (French and English) oral and writing is mandatory;

- University degree or College diploma in Engineering, Legal or Administration;

- Demonstrated experience as a post-award Contract Administrator;

- Abilityto interpret commercial and legal requirements;

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Problem solving and attention to detail skills;

- Track record of managing various types of subcontracts (Cost Plus, Target Costs, Unit Pricing & Lump Sums)

- Previous experience in large construction projects is an asset

- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), familiarity with JDE and SAP would be considered an asset;

- Established skills in project, time and priority management.

- Have a very good knowledge of standards and good practices related to subcontract management and in the interpretation of these.

- Strong negotiation, mediation skills and settlement of contractual disputes

- Able to work productively independently and as part of a team

- Ability to handle multiple subcontracts at the same time in fast paced environments with changing situations

- Excellent communication, problem solving and attention to detail skills;

- Demonstrated willingness to learn;

- Flexibility and team player

This position involves fulltime presence onsite (rotations and locations to be determined) and can involve fly-in-fly-out to/from remote jobsites across Canada.
