Reporting into the Plant Director, this role is responsible for ensuring the improvement of health and safety performance, the development of occupational health and safety prevention programs as well as those of environmental compliance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Write a strategic health and safety plan in line with corporate and internal objectives;
  • Facilitate the OHS Committee;
  • Act as a change agent with employees and management (risk assessment, communication and training) with a view to continuous improvement;
  • Manage the health and safety specialist;
  • Develop and use different means of communication on health and safety elements;
  • Support managers during work accidents
  • Measure changes in health and safety performance and recommend corrective plans;
  • Ensures compliance and implementation of policies, internal procedures and legislative requirements in health and safety and the environment;
  • Act as a resource person with external stakeholders and the corporate group;
  • Carry out various health and safety audits, inspections and analyzes and see to the follow-up of the resulting elements;
  • Manage the budget and make OHS purchases;
  • Support managers in the application of health and safety programs and procedures at the labor and environmental matters.

EDUCATION, LANGUAGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or industrial relations or a certificate in health and safety with relevant experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing field with similar functions;
  • Excellent oral and written skills in French and a functional level of spoken and written English
  • Union experience is a must
