Dr. Lyle Pidzarko | General Dentist, DDS, University of Alberta
For someone who enjoys helping people and who loves to work with his hands, dentistry is an ideal profession. “I really enjoy striving to make a difference in people’s lives,” says Dr. Pidzarko. “It is rewarding to help a patient to achieve a straighter and healthier smile when we restore their teeth. We want our patients to leave here feeling good about their health and appearance.”
“Implant dentistry allows me to offer a possible solution to patients who are missing teeth and who wish to have something that looks and functions naturally. Individual teeth, implant supported bridges or implant supported dentures can help improve how people feel about themselves. I love to sit down with people and discuss what they would like to change and so I can create a treatment plan customized to their needs.”
Dr Pidzarko is a General Dentist who attained his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton in 1990. He founded Ocean Dental and has been practicing there since 1990. He is passionate about continuing education.
Away from dentistry, he enjoys golfing, playing hockey, as well as cooking, travel and skiing with his wife and two sons.

Dr. Vern Beckie | General Dentist, DMD, University of Saskatchewan
Dr. Beckie graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1986 at the age of 22.
He moved to Metro Vancouver in 1987 and practiced in several locations before settling at Ocean Dental in 1998.
"What makes dentistry exciting for me is incorporating technology into daily practice. Every day I am looking for ways to make dentistry more comfortable for our customers. I love hearing how I did from my patients."
I enjoy skiing, hockey, golf, yoga, gardening and photography. Happily married since 1991 and a father of three school aged girls, I have a large extended family that I am very close to. It gives me the opportunity to hear about the needs and concerns of all ages.
Dr. Mehr Poulad | General Dentist, DMD University of British Columbia
Dr. Poulad received his dental degree from the University of British Columbia. His undergraduate degree is in Cell Biology, Genetics and Economics.
During his studies as a dental student he had an externship to a rural BC community. He performed dentistry there and he enjoyed the experience so much that after completing dental school he returned to that community to provide dental care to the underserved. Every year, Dr. Poulad donates his time and expertise, and travels to less fortunate countries to provide dental care.
Dr. Poulad gets along with all ages: he spent 10 years as a day camp leader, sports instructor, teen mentor, and referee with the North Van Rec Commission. In addition to his experience with the youth, he volunteered at the Evergreen House, a long term care facility for the elderly.
Growing up on the North Shore allowed him to have an active life. He grew up playing many team sports: basketball, soccer, rugby and volleyball. He continued with basketball and soccer at the University of British Columbia playing on several intramural men's teams.
Dr. Poulad’s focus is on patient care and striving to help his patients remain comfortable while receiving professional treatment. "My goal is to put the patient at ease and make them feel comfortable prior to starting any dental treatment." Dr. Poulad involves his patients in the process by helping to educate them. He also takes great pride in striving to alleviate fears the patient may have and providing dedicated care. Dr. Brian Shim | General Dentist, DMD University of British Columbia
Dr Brian Shim studied Mechanical Engineering at University of Alberta first where he had stumbled into dental research. After, he studied and obtained Doctor of Dental Medicine at University of British Columbia.
Dr Shim practices all aspects of dentistry and enjoys pursuing continuing education. He strives to create a positive and comfortable environment to improve oral health.
Outside of Dentistry, he likes to stay active and enjoys a long bike ride, camping, and skiing.

My goal is to put my patients at ease and make them feel safe and comfortable. I take great pride in alleviating any anxiety or fear the patient may have and providing them efficient, first class service.
