We are looking to appoint a Quality Engineer in the Quality Department. You will report to the Quality Manager. You will fulfil the necessary requirements within the Department to meet the Company’s objectives by ensuring that operations are performing optimally from a quality, cost and delivery perspective; using the right tools, materials and processes. An important part of the job involves designing the company's quality standards and testing processes against those criteria.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Corrective action:

  • Facilitate and support workstation and line Quick Response Continuous Improvement (QRCI)& Support QRCI
  • Ensure the corrective action processes in R&C are operating optimally through the necessary control, training, and facilitation.
    • Ensure defects are described correctly to facilitate resolution.
    • Guide containment activities.
    • Facilitate proper root cause analysis through using the correct tools and techniques (5 whys, fault tree analysis, Ishikawa diagram)
    • Ensure corrective actions that eliminate root causes are implemented.
    • Ensure preventive actions are taken and transferred to other factories.
    • Ensure relevant documents are updated.
  • Train members as appropriate.

Analysis of quality performance

  • Analyse and manipulate information / data to determine efficiency, effectiveness of all processes.
  • Compile reports and graphs to management to inform the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
  • Compile report to management to inform the status of audit trends, quality performance data etc.

Operational Excellence

  • Set up and publish visual aids / displays – Quality alerts.
  • Compile Standard Operating Procedures to guide members in the correct quality practices.
  • Ensure that analysis of defective parts and disposition there-of. Compile a database, prioritise for corrective action.
  • Ensure that yachts are Launched and Handed Over in good condition by implementing and maintaining control measures.
  • Ensure that quality standards are maintained and consistently applied.
  • Audit processes to determine compliance to procedures, effectiveness of processes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Formulate, plan, and implement continuous improvement activities to ensure on time, on budget and quality performance.
  • Ensure best operating practices are implemented and continuous improvement embedded within all functions.
  • Identify continuous improvement projects (i.e., Quality Standards Manual)

People Management

  • To manage resources for the department to achieve set production/departmental targets.
  • Build & maintain an effective team, ensure that operating objectives & performance standards are tracked.
  • Resolving disciplinary, grievance or other people related matters according to company policies.
  • Development of staff by ensuring training plans are developed and implemented on an ongoing basis.
  • Continuous guidance and mentoring activities to the team members.
  • Incidents reported, attended to and communicated on time; Toolbox talks training.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum Qualification: Engineering Diploma (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Mega-tronics) and/or relevant degree with 2 years Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ideal Qualification: BTech Quality / Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Mega-tronics) /Six Sigma Green Belt.

  • High level of analytical ability and a skilled problem solver
  • Core Skills knowledge (SPC, MSA, APQP, FMEA)
  • Create and maintain FMEA’s and Control
  • Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with an ever-changing business environment.
