Job Title: Infant & Early Years Mental Health Therapist
Position: Full Time Permanent – 35 hours/wk 1FTE
Location- In-person at either 2010 Eglinton Avenue West / West Toronto Youth Hub or
Community Locations and remote
Yorktown Family Services provides a comprehensive range of mental health services for children, youth and families who are experiencing serious emotional/social/behavioural difficulties along with several gender-based violence initiatives. Yorktown is currently seeking a Family / Child and Youth Therapist who will join the team of professionals at Yorktown.
Yorktown requires a skilled and enthusiastic family and child therapist with fluency in English to provide clinical services to a diverse multi-cultural population. This position is located within our Family Child and Youth therapy service and provides a range of individual, family, group and Rapid Access Therapy services to a complex and multi-cultural clientele.
A primary component of this position will be providing Trauma Focused (TF) Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and infant/early years mental health interventions to children from birth to 12. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of a range of treatment services including individual, family and/or group counselling, brief therapy with children, youth and families, Trauma Assessments and TF-CBT Treatment.
The successful candidate will receive referrals from Parenting in the Early Years, Baby Love, Supporting Young Families, and Here to Help Group Programs
Service coordination and working collaboratively with Child Welfare and partner agencies is an important aspect of the role.
Services may be delivered virtually and onsite at one of our three locations or in the community as needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of a range of treatment services including individual, family and/or group counselling, brief therapy with children, youth and families, Trauma Assessments and TF-CBT Treatment and intake assessment.
Provide brief SFBT counselling within our walk-in and virtual Rapid Access Therapy and at the West Toronto Youth Hub clinic, ‘what’s up’ walk-in clinic, and in the community as needed.
Work within an integrated care health team as the mental health service provider.
Work with Hospitals, Community Health Centres and Physicians to support transitions from primary health to community-based child and youth care organizations.
Be the primary group worker for our Early Years parenting groups and Baby Love programs and other groups as assigned
Take a lead role in Baby Love facilitation and training
or equivalent Clinical Masters and several years clinical experience grounded in a strengths-based, trauma focused, systemic perspective with children from birth to 12.
Must be a registered member in good standing with the college of social service workers or college of registered psychotherapists (RSW or RP).
Minimum 2 years relevant children’s mental health experience with preference for experience using evidence based clinical models such as CBT, TF-CBT, and SFBT and working within the Violence Against Women sector.
A deep understanding of the impacts and treatment approaches working with children who have been exposed to intimate partner violence
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings is essential.
Assets include, experience running groups and fluency in Spanish
Access to a reliable vehicle is a definite asset.
Reports to the Manager, Child, Youth and Young Adult Mental Health Services
