The Welder Fitter is a part of the Maintenance Department which is integral for employee safety and Vale’s long-term operating strategy. Members of this team work across different locations to ensure all mine equipment are functioning effectively and safely. Team members are also involved in the development of long-term and short-term maintenance initiatives, practices and procedures.
With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.
This is a permanent position.
As a Welder Fitter, you will be responsible for all metal fabrication, metal welding,including pressure welding; brazing, cutting, and gouging. Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, dismantle, modify and repair plate and structural steel, plant andmine equipment.
Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.
Experience with metal working equipment (shear, brake press, rolls, radial drill and power saws).
Knowledge of specific welding hazards to protect self and others is required.
Experience with rigging and material handling.
Knowledge of welding codes and standards.
