Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, Marine maintenance/fitter and ship repair technology/technician

Experience: 5 years or more

Certification on the following engine brands is required:

  • Mercury, Mercruiser, Yamaha, Volvo (or applicant can hold a BCIT Marine Technician Diploma)

Responsibilities

Tasks:

  • Adjust, repair or replace electrical and mechanical system parts
  • Diagnose and isolate faults on engines
  • Discuss work with supervisor
  • Document your inspection and tests made on engines
  • Estimate repair costs
  • Review work orders
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and service
  • Advise customers on work performed and condition of equipment
  • Test and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance
