Job Purpose: The Offshore Construction and Diving Supervisor signed on the panel is legally in charge of diving operations, the ultimate safety of the divers in the SDC/water and is the only person who can initiate the dive. When the vessel is operating in

Construction mode, the Diving Supervisor will act as the Offshore Construction

Supervisor during construction and pipelay operations.

Reporting lines and interactions:

Hierarchically reports to: Offshore People Manager

Operationally reports to: Offshore Construction Manager (OCM) / Gas Superintendent

Directly supervises: Divers whilst in the SDC / water, Standby Diver and Deck Crew

Key interactions (internally, externally): Life Support Team, Dive Technicians, OMT, Bridge Crew, ROV and Project Engineers, Clients, Subcontractors, Training and Competence Department, Local Authorities, Diving Regional Manager

Job Scope (budget, management, specific criteria):

Management

  • Overseeing all relevant aspects of the dive system including, dive control panels, SDC/ Wet Bell launch and recovery, SDC layout, air chamber operations, operational and emergency procedures
  • Liaising with the Life Support Supervisor, Gas Superintendent, Dive Tech Supervisor, Deck Crew and ROV as to the readiness of the equipment and personnel under his direct authority
  • Ensuring the team are familiarised with company SMS and vessels ISSOW to a level appropriate for their job role
  • Ensuring all shift handovers are carried out clearly and concisely, ensuring relevant information is logged within the handover log
  • Ensuring accurate detailed daily logs are kept of all diver movements, dive activities, system breakdowns
  • Ensuring all operational or system changes are managed in accordance with company MOC process
  • Actively participating in feedback and review of Dive Manuals, updating Dive Systems Operations/Emergency Manual, Dive System DESIGN Documentation and developing emergency training / drills

Safety

  • Diver and SDC environmental control and dive gas analysis are maintained within company guidelines
  • Dive system emergency training and familiarisation is carried out in accordance with company guidelines
  • Dive system firefighting equipment operational awareness and all relevant personnel are fully familiarised
  • Ensure that all relevant personnel are fully aware of the SDC/Wet Bell launch and recovery manning, operational requirements, layout and familiarity of emergency equipment and procedures
  • All pressure related injuries/incidents are dealt with in accordance of the company manuals, with any additional local legislative requirements reported appropriately

Operations

  • Fully conversant with project procedures, liaising with Project Engineers and assisting with organising and planning of the dives
  • Diver briefings are carried out in accordance with company guidelines and logged appropriately
  • Planning, preparation and ongoing management of readiness of project equipment for diving
  • Ensure all system checks and operations are carried out by competent personnel
  • All diving procedures are carried out in accordance with the company manuals
  • Involved in the pre planning and assist with project mobilisations and demobilisations
  • Ensure regular updating of operational status and schedules to assist in planning and highlight possible issues within the scope of work

Technical/Systems

  • Logging and supervision of any incidents involving equipment malfunction or failure
  • Equipment failures/ issues are captured within the system defects log and reported accordingly
  • Ensure all documentation in use is relevant and traceable within the FMS/BMS or exerts from vendor operational manuals.
  • Ensure SDC and vessel communications are maintained to a high level, reporting defects or improvements accordingly

People

  • Ongoing personnel mentoring, appraisals, feedback and assistance with competency portfolios
  • Continued logging of all relevant details within their personnel lob book
  • Familiar with the Company’s Key Human Resources Policies and Procedures
  • Ensuring material and resources are available for development of Trainee Supervisors and Divers in all aspects of diving operations, gas management and emergency training

Qualifications (professional, technical, academic):

Essential:

Industry Certification (IMCA)

  • IMCA recognised Air/Closed Bell Dive Supervisor certificate UK and Norwegian Legislation
  • Meets IMCA minimum requirements for experience and competency
  • AODC/ IMCA Divers certificate (HSE part I/II or equivalent)

Company Required Certification

  • Completed a recognised Advanced First Aid/ DMT course
  • Valid Offshore Survival Certificate
  • Valid Offshore Medical Certificate
  • Qualified and actively working as a Competence Assessor and Appraiser
  • Letter of Appointment signed by Group Diving TA or Regional Diving Manager
  • IMCA CPD enrolment
  • Completed Operators HMCS Skills Verification training – MOS-HR-007 (Deep Arctic / Deep Explorer)
  • Completed TechnipFMC Nitrox Familiarisation and Training
  • Valid DCBC Certification

Typical background and experience required:

Essential:

Practical Knowledge

  • Industry and local legislation/ guidance ensuring compliance
  • Subsea construction process/ cranes, rigging, lifting and QHSE procedures
  • Weather, tidal and current limitation’s affecting vessel DP, operations and divers safety
  • TechnipFMC Group Values and Diving Safety Management System (DSMS) demonstrable in daily activities
  • Experience undertaking Saturation Diving Operations from DP3 Dive Support Vessel.
  • Fully familiarized with COBRA rebreather operational and emergency procedures.
  • Understanding of Kongsberg DP3 System.
  • Documented experience working with PLC Based Hyperbaric Monitoring & Control System (HMCS) within the past 12 months.
  • Documented experience of supervising on a surface supplied diving scope.
  • Proven experience with pipe lay through a tenioner based lay system within the last 2 years
  • The requirements of Dive System Assurance and certification
  • Company FMS/BMS, SMS and vessels ISSOW
