With a team of designers, engineers, project managers, administrators, and technical support staff dispersed between locations, Genoa provides expertise and dedicated support throughout the shipbuilding process. Currently, Genoa is active in major government initiatives such as Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) and in commercial contracts in shipyards throughout North America.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an HVAC Designer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of designers with various degrees of experience to resolve problems and get the job done.
  • Collaborating with shipyards, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Working with colleagues of various disciplines to fully design and integrate vessel compartments.
  • Performing load calculations to determine HVAC system requirements.
  • Developing HVAC system designs using Ship Constructor or similar software.
  • Selecting equipment, materials, and components for HVAC systems.
  • Creating production drawings for construction and installation.
  • Reviewing designs for compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED IN YOUR TOOLKIT

All experience levels will be considered, but the ideal candidate will have shipbuilding production design, and 3D modelling experience using ShipConstructor including the design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for various types of vessels. Key requirements include:

  • A Technical diploma or degree in a related discipline (naval architecture, marine engineering systems design; mechanical, HVAC or electrical design) or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
  • Proficiency in ShipConstructor.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles, systems, and components.
  • Knowledge of marine codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • A passion for leadership.
  • A growth mindset with a willingness to share knowledge, mentor, and be mentored, no matter what the experience level.
