Paramedic New Graduate Opportunities in Central Zone
Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NL Health Services) brings together five former separate health entities - Eastern Health, Central Health, Western Health, Labrador-Grenfell Health, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information. The creation of a provincial health authority was announced following recommendations from Health Accord NL.
NL Health Services is responsible for delivering health and community services to more than 528,000 people living in Newfoundland and Labrador and employs over 21,000 people.
Applications are invited for Advanced Care and Primary Care Paramedic positions with NLHS-Central Zone for various sites/departments.
The Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) provides effective and efficient emergency care and transportation of the seriously ill in a pre-hospital/hospital setting, while transporting to hospital, as well as, in hospital. The successful candidate also provides primary client care by surveying the emergency situation and taking necessary action.
The Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) performs independent advanced medical care and intervention to clients at pre-hospital scene settings, during transport and within healthcare facilities. performs comprehensive assessments and tests; interprets a variety of tests and procedures; The paramedic is an integral member of the Emergency Department team, providing care, based on their scope of practice to patients in the ER, in collaboration with nursing staff and physicians. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
* Graduation from an approved paramedic program accredited by the Canadian Medical Association.
* PMO Certification (including all current courses/modules).
* Current physical capability testing certificate (within the last 3 months) and continued responsibility to meet the minimal standards of physical capability as outlined in provincial policy
* A valid Class IV driver's license issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and current Driver's Abstract from Motor Vehicle Registration.
* Successful candidate will be required to live within a 20 kilometre radius of the facility.
* Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
