Our client in the public sector is seeking a contract base ServiceNow Vault Developer. Duration: 4-5 months to start Location: Hybrid Ottawa ideally Responsibilities 1. Discovery and Assessment Review the current ServiceNow environment, architecture, and any existing Vault configurations. Collaborate with product and platform teams to identify data types, sensitivity levels, and protection requirements. Engage with architecture, security, and compliance teams to understand governance, regulatory, and operational constraints. 2. Design and Development of Proofs of Concept (POCs) Design and implement POCs for each Vault capability area to validate feasibility and architectural fit. Ensure performance, maintainability, and compliance with enterprise standards. Address various contexts such as encryption of PII fields, attachment handling, integrations, and monitoring. 3. Documentation of Implementation Patterns and Guidance Create comprehensive implementation pattern documents covering: Architecture and component interactions Configuration steps and sample scripts Scalability, maintainability, and security considerations Adaptations for multiple ServiceNow product lines (e.g., ITSM, HRSD, WSD, SecOps, Custom Apps) Document best practices and anti-patterns with supporting lessons learned. 4. Knowledge Transfer and Final Deliverables Conduct walkthroughs and knowledge-sharing sessions with platform and security teams. Deliver final documentation, code artifacts, and POC configurations. Provide recommendations for production rollout and long-term governance. Requirements: 8+ years of progressive ServiceNow development experience across multiple modules (ITSM, HRSD, SecOps, or CSM). 2+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow Vault or equivalent encryption/security frameworks. Proficiency with Field-Level Encryption (FLE) setup, key management, and integration with KMS solutions (e.g., Azure Key Vault, AWS KMS, Thales, HashiCorp Vault). Deep knowledge of Zero Trust architectures , adaptive authentication, and policy enforcement in ServiceNow. Understanding of certificate management and code signing within CI/CD pipelines. Strong background in data anonymization , masking, and secure data lifecycle design. Experience integrating Vault features with external identity and access management systems (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect). Familiarity with ServiceNow security controls , ACLs, and encryption context configurations. Solid understanding of ServiceNow scoped apps, Flow Designer, Script Includes, Business Rules , and UI Policies . Knowledge of ServiceNow ATF (Automated Test Framework) for testing security features. Familiarity with ServiceNow MID Server architecture and integration points.
