We are actively recruiting a Water Resources Engineer for a leading Engineering Consulting firm in our client's Calgary division.ResponsibilitiesAssist in mentoring junior staff with day-to-day activities, answering questions and providing best practice guidanceAssist junior engineers with workflow and prioritization of tasks so that timelines and deliverables are met, and projects are completed within the budgetUnderstands, follows, and promotes the company's quality management planUnderstands and utilizes company templates for document productionDocument work flow and design decisions clearly for professional engineer and/or QA reviewCompletes double-checks of own work and oversee the work of technical staffConduct engineering site visits / field reviews, to review if construction work generally conforms to the project drawings and specificationsAssist with the commissioning of water/wastewater infrastructureEstablish report/study outlines that meet the project deliverable requirementsCollect background data on water/wastewater infrastructure and community requirementsCollect and analyze data specific to project scopeAnalyze data on water/wastewater infrastructureAssess existing water/wastewater infrastructureDevelop options to address project objectivesEstimate costs for options to address project objectivesPresent project findings to clientsCompile and edit written work from others into a single coherent documentOversee the work of technical staff when applicable to projects/assignmentsDesign of water supply, treatment and distribution infrastructure, such as raw water supply systems, water treatment plants, pump stations, and truck fill stationsDesign of wastewater pumping and treatment infrastructure, such as wastewater lift stations, wastewater treatment facilitiesProcess engineering design to size/select individual components that support overall infrastructure design, such as piping systems, chemical feed systems, and process-specific treatment systemsCoordinate with drafting team to develop detailed design drawingsCoordinate multi-discipline teams and sub-consultantsDevelop engineering drawings and engineering detailsDevelop front-end contract specifications for procurementDevelop technical specificationsOversee the work of technical staff when applicable to projects/assignmentsReview, understand and interpret construction Contract Documents, Drawings, and SpecificationsAssist project managers/engineers with the bid/tender process for construction projectsAssist with construction management activities, such as reviewing budgets, schedules, shop drawings, request for information enquiries, contractor progress claims, material performance test reports, etc.QualificationsMust hold a valid Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering. Degrees in Civil, Civil-Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering are preferred.Minimum 5 years' experience in consulting engineering, specifically in water/wastewater engineering area of practice. Candidates with less experience may be considered subject to specific experience and skillsets.Experience in consulting engineering, specifically in water and wastewater areas of practice.Must be in good standing with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
