With branches in North York, Mississauga, Thornhill, and Coquitlam, our goal is to help clients prosper, create an environment for our people to thrive, and enrich our communities.Primary Purpose of the Role As an independent officer of the second line of defense from the Risk Management department, Sr. Operational Risk role will act as a champion and challenger, guiding business partners in implementing operational risk management practices and supporting the Risk Management Department’s overall mandate. The Sr. Operational Risk role will also be responsible for regulatory compliance across the Risk Management function including updating Ethidex and liaising with Compliance department including updating pendencies. Key Roles and ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and synthesize risk exposures, operational losses, root causes and control gaps to proactively identify risk exposures and control gaps. Present findings and analysis results to the CRO and the Leadership Team as neededSupport the CRO and Risk Management Committee (RMC) with actionable insights to make informed, risk-based decisionsPrepare and submit reports to the CRO, senior management, RMC, Parent bank, and regulatory bodies as neededEstablish and maintain the Bank’s Operational Risk Management Framework in accordance to OSFI’s E-21 aligned with the Bank’s strategy and other risk management functionsReview and monitor the Bank’s effective IT and Cybersecurity Framework aligned with operational risk management framework Review and monitor the Bank’s outsourcing or the third party risk management process in accordance to OSFI’s B-10 Review and monitor the Bank’s Fraud Risk Management program in alignment with the operational risk management frameworkPerform an independent review on new initiatives of the Bank as part of change management of the BankCoordinate and report RCSA, Loss data and KRI on a regular basisReview and monitor the Bank’s BCP (Business Contingency Plan) and related measurements such as BIA (Business Impact Analysis), RA (Risk Assessment) and MCA (Mission Critical Activities) on a regular basis. Make a challenge for any gap of the Bank’s process and procedures from regulatory requirementWill be responsible for regulatory compliance across the Risk Management function including updating RMD on regulatory updates, Ethidex and liaisoning with Compliance department including review and updation of control gaps pendenciesJob Requirements Educational Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, risk management or other related field required and/or Chartered Accountant or MBA is preferred Work Experience Requirements10-15 years of related experienceStrong research and communication skillsDemonstrated analytical thinking to solve complex problemsStrong time management and ability to handle multiple projectsExcellent documentation skills related to policies/guidelines/procedures/manualsExperience in VBA or SQL is also considered an assetExperience in analyzing and providing insights on OSFI and Basel II & III regulations is considered an assetPeople Management Experience 3-5 years of people management experience is preferred Professional Certification / Membership Requirements CPA designation or FRM, or in pursuit of any risk management related designation, is preferredLanguage Requirements Required: English Preferred: Korean
