PURPOSE

Pathfind’s well-established southside company is seeking a Data Analyst to join its Finance Department full-time. The Data Analyst will apply data tools to collect, cleanse, and present structured and unstructured data for analysis and reporting. The person will assist in data project management at various levels of the organization. A key focus of this role will also be assisting in building up our databases for an eventual migration to a new cloud-based ERP system. In addition, this role will also assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, primarily through reconciliations and variance analysis.


The ideal candidate will have skills and experience manipulating and extracting data from various data sources, programming (e.g., Python, SAS, R, SQL, Excel VBA), reporting using advanced business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI), and excellent communication skills.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure stored data is easily accessible to internal and external teams.

• Leveraging investigative and problem-solving skills to rectify issues to ensure ongoing data integrity.

• Responsibility for projects as they pertain to our data and reporting systems.

• Work closely with leadership teams to create data strategies that support data modeling

• Identify opportunities to work cross-functionally with other departments.

• Build strong and influential internal relationships to help meet business objectives.

• Focus on maintaining and developing relevant reports on financial data analytics and process improvements within the economic and administrative processes.

• Assist the Assistant Controller with monthly reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and other ad-hoc accounting requirements to efficiently close month and year ends.

• Work with other managers to ensure efficient and effective business operations.

• Understand the day-to-day issues our business faces, which can be better understood with data

• Compile and analyze data related to business issues

• Develop clear visualizations to convey complicated data in a straightforward fashion

• Must be able to work alongside other analytical experts and meet with senior-level managers to determine requirements for intuitive, creative, analytical solutions.

• Gather and analyze business requirements and user specifications. Independently design, develop, and document dashboards, report, and analytical tools


EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• Undergraduate degree in computer science is considered an asset

• Diploma or certificates in business, accounting, or related studies considered an asset

• Complete the Corporation’s Performance, Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental orientation programs.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 1 - 2 years of post-graduate Data Analysis experience

• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in teams.

• Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through with meaningful projects.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information.

• Proven experience in creating dashboards, data visualization, and reporting, as well as managing data ceremonies, data cleaning, and preparation.

• Basic understanding of accounting standards, specifically Canadian ASPE.

• Strong attention to detail

• Well organized with excellent time management skills and the flexibility to work longer hours to meet deadlines.

• Cloud ERP platform experience is considered an asset.

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, a superior command of oral and written English, and familiarity with professional and technical writing requirements.


WORK CONDITIONS

• Office environment and may be required to travel to offices in Calgary, AB, Estevan, SK, and Paradise, NL.

• Main office location: Edmonton, AB.

• Standard work hours are Monday to Friday: 8 AM to 5 PM.
