The Role:

As an important member of the 49th Parallel Team, the Marketing Coordinator will be key in supporting growth initiatives, customer engagement and events across all channels of our business. This position will act as an ambassador for our brand, will require a self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills. The role is full-time, salaried, and will be based at our head office/Roastery in Burnaby, B.C.


Primary Responsibilities:


Event Management

Attend all events and be ambassador for our brand through communication with customers and/or retail partners

Organize all marketing materials and samples, and ensure flawless execution

Work with vendors to design any needed merchandising elements

Coordinate transportation, set up and shipping as required


Product Trial Program

Create guidelines for demo staff including set up/take down procedures and coffee preparation

Train Demos on our brand, coffee preparation and key selling features

Maintenance of Demo equipment, transportation, and storage

Work with Sales Team to schedule demos to maximize retailer’s promotions

Coordination of demo scheduling, hours, budgets, and payroll submissions

  • Conduct Demos throughout the Lower Mainland (3-4 per month)
  • Engage with customers to create excitement and connections with our brand


Sales and Merchandising Materials

Leadership of sales materials and small-scale graphic design projects or updates to existing materials (sell sheets, customer sales decks)

Create Specialty Retail flyer and digital ads

Support the Sales Team with needed samples, communication, and tools


Content Creation Support

Collaborate with cross functional teams to create content for various digital platforms, including social media, website, blog, and email marketing campaigns

Capture and assist in capturing visually appealing images and videos that highlight the 49th coffee offerings, brewing methods, and coffee-related experiences

Contribute to writing copy that effectively communicates the 49th unique selling points and coffee-related information


Social Media

  • Support the development and execution of social media strategies to increase brand visibility and engagement
  • Assist in managing and maintaining social media accounts, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Contribute ideas for content creation, including photos, videos, and captions, that showcase coffee products, brewing methods, and coffee-related events
  • Identify and establish relationships with relevant Influencers and partners for potential collaborations and brand endorsements
  • Manage influencer campaigns, ensuring content aligns with brand values and goals
  • Monitor social media platforms for comments and messages and respond in a timely and professional manner


Other Special Projects or Administration duties as determined by Leadership Team


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Passion for Specialty Coffee and the coffee industry
  • Minimum one (1) years of related experience
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to be customer-facing and an ambassador of the brand
  • Attention to detail, timeliness, and accuracy
  • Creative mindset with an eye for visual aesthetics.
  • Good knowledge of computer tools including MS Office
  • Experience with social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
  • Proficiency in Adobe photoshop or illustrator
  • Ability to live and demonstrate the Company Values
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field preferred
