Introduction
We are currently seeking an experienced seismic acquisition supervisor for our mining client in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This role involves rotating within a small team of seasoned company representatives who monitor and advise on operational, data acquisition, equipment, recording, instrumentation, and positioning matters for geophysical surveys. The successful candidate will ensure that geophysical contractors and subcontractors comply with project plans, contract requirements, Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) protocols, and all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Additionally, the individual will maintain proper records and documentation, regularly communicating findings and updates to the company.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Company representative and field contact for the Contractor
- Oversee all field activities conducted by the Contractor and its approved subcontractors
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
- Demonstrate a commitment to our clients Field Leadership program
- Work both independently and in collaboration with the team and Contractors’ supervisors and managers
- Monitor Contractor’s Field Supervisors and staff to ensure that they are operating safely, effectively and efficiently
- Engage and discuss with the Contractor Field Supervisor prior to any Contractor liaison with a government agency, provincial or municipal, and any communication related to community relations
- Demonstrate personal safety and team leadership
- Monitor and assess contractor technical procedures and processes as applicable
- Verify adherence to the contract technical requirements
- Use, where appropriate, quality control / verification software to check performance of acquisition and positioning systems
- Verify adherence to the contract HSEC requirements and Project HSEC Plan
- Communicate deviations to Company and Contractor designated personnel
- Recommend technical improvements or corrective actions
- Represent Company in project related matters
- Participate in incident investigations as required
- Report to Company contacts as requested
- Submit daily, weekly, monthly, and project reports to Company as requested
- Work with HSE Specialists and other Company Field Supervisors as a team
- Maintain awareness of other Company Field Supervisors and HSE Specialists areas of responsibility
- Monitor and assist in technical audits (instruments and positioning accuracy) to assess compliance with Company’s audit and contract requirements, as well as regulatory and industry standards
- Monitor and ensure effectiveness of interface management at all levels on site and between the site and project management team
Requirements
- 10+ years onshore experience and 5+ years onshore industry experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience with 3D dynamite and vibriosis acquisition, preferably in urban and agricultural terrains. Experience with winter programs and cableless acquisition systems required.
- Knowledge, understanding and application of HSEC standards, HSEC management systems, HSEC auditing and incident investigation and reporting
- Experience of auditing and assessing seismic operations
