About Us
Hunter Shore Group is recruiting a Plant Manager for a global food ingredients company with a flagship site in Canada. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to establish and drive operational excellence at a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Ontario. As Plant Manager, you will be responsible for scaling operations and growing the workforce to approximately 400 employees. This position requires an inspirational leader who can navigate complex challenges, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and lead the site to become a flagship operation.
Key Measures of Success
- Successfully implement a strategy and roadmap for the site’s growth and operational excellence.
- Build and empower a high-performing leadership team that aligns with organizational values and objectives.
- Achieve significant improvements in production efficiency, quality, and adherence to safety standards through TPM and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and effectively manage production demands against sales projections.
- Develop robust succession plans, ensuring a pipeline of future leadership talent for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Inspire, guide, and empower the site leadership team to achieve exceptional results.
- Oversee direct reports, including managers across operations, quality, EHS, technical functions, supply chain, finance, and HR.
- Build trust and credibility with employees and stakeholders through transparent communication and collaboration.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Lead the implementation of the company’s operating system, focusing on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Continuous Improvement (CI) principles.
- Drive efficiencies in production, quality, and service through data-driven decision-making and root cause analysis.
- Oversee the development and utilization of dashboards to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies to scale operations and achieve business objectives.
- Navigate complex relationships between production and demand, ensuring alignment with sales projections and business goals.
- Balance immediate turnaround priorities with sustainable operational growth.
Compliance & Standards
- Uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality standards, and safety protocols in a food production environment.
- Collaborate with the Quality Manager and EHS Manager to maintain rigorous standards and meet regulatory requirements.
Required Experience and Skills
Experience
- Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably within food production or similar industries.
- Expertise in implementing TPM, Lean, or other operational excellence methodologies.
- Strong understanding of GMP and quality standards in food production.
- Demonstrated success in turnaround leadership, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
Skills
- Exceptional people leadership skills, with the ability to build trust, develop talent, and foster a culture of accountability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; able to make data-driven decisions and communicate insights effectively.
- Adept at balancing strategic vision with hands-on involvement on the shop floor.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly in managing complex, multi-functional relationships.
