Reporting to the Manager, Operations the Survey Technical Lead will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of integrated, heavy civil and specialty construction sites and managing all associated surveying activities.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Supervise and lead the surveying team
  • Organize and allocate crews to service projects
  • Read, interpret, and understand contract drawings and specifications
  • Prepare proposals, contracts and reports for clients
  • Develop survey plans, determining scope, resources, objectives and means and methods
  • Oversee QC of data collection, ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are complete
  • Establish and implement SOPs for survey projects
  • Interpret and understand Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and all relevant Special Provisions for each tendered project
  • Monitor project performance, schedule, costs, safety and quality control
  • Oversee project closeout
  • May assist in the preparation of project estimates using estimating software
  • Maintain and build customer relations
  • Mentor and train new field staff


Position Requirements :


  • 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • Ontario Land Survey Certified are P.Eng will be an asset
  • Experience managing a team of surveyors
  • Strong leadership, team management and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with various subcontractors and other working professionals on the projects
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office, Bluebeam / Adobe Acrobat, Sketchup and practical programming software
  • Demonstrative experience of modern survey instrumentation, including Total Stations, GPS and data modelling in AutoCAD
  • A firm understanding of providing survey functions for civil and construction works, including utilities, foundations, roads and bridge layout.
  • Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment
  • Outcome-focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business
  • Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges
