Are you a dynamic and visionary leader with a proven track record in business, government relations, and team management? The Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) is seeking a strategic and results-driven professional to join us as our Chief Executive Officer.

 

About OAO: The Ontario Association of Optometrists is a leading advocate for the optometry profession in Ontario, dedicated to promoting and advancing the highest standards of eye health and vision care. Our mission is to support optometrists in delivering the best possible eye care to the people of Ontario.

 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide strategic leadership to the organization, guiding its mission, vision, and goals.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the association.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive organizational culture
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a dedicated team to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government officials and stakeholders to influence policies that benefit the optometry profession.
  • Act as a hands-on leader, actively engaging with members, OAO Board of Directors, partners, and stakeholders to address their needs and concerns.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility and oversee budgetary planning to achieve financial sustainability.


Qualifications:


  • Proven executive leadership experience
  • Strong business acumen and a track record of successful strategic planning and implementation.
  • Understanding of and experience with Lean Management Principles.
  • Excellent team management and motivational skills with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse group of professionals.
  • In-depth understanding of government relations and advocacy, with the ability to navigate and influence the political landscape.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain effective relationships with members, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to make logical, data-driven decisions while being adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • A commitment to customer relations and a passion for advancing eye health and vision care.
