Kubernetes Contractor (Azure AKS Migration & Optimization)
Location: Vancouver
Pay Rate: $100-$110 CAD
Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Kubernetes Contractor with deep expertise in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) to support the migration of existing workloads from Google Cloud to Azure and assist in onboarding new developer teams and workloads. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters at scale and the ability to collaborate with teams at varying levels of cloud and Kubernetes maturity to ensure a smooth, minimally disruptive migration process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize Azure AKS clusters to ensure scalability, performance, and high availability.
- Implement and maintain GitOps-driven workflows using ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and Helm.
- Configure and manage Azure AKS IAM to enforce secure access controls and permissions.
- Work closely with development and operations teams to ensure a seamless migration of applications and services.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to Kubernetes clusters, networking, and deployments.
- Document best practices, configurations, and processes to improve Kubernetes operations.
Requirements:
- Expertise in Helm and Go templating for Kubernetes deployments.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience running multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters at scale.
- Proficiency with GitOps-driven workflows, including ArgoCD and GitHub Actions.
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes networking concepts and CNIs.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Crossplane for managing infrastructure through Kubernetes.
- Experience with Policy as Code tools such as OPA or Kyverno.
- Strong expertise in Azure AKS IAM and role-based access management.
