With offices in Perth, Brisbane, Toronto, Manila & Tanzania ECG has the capability to design and deliver on complex projects, from early study work to commissioning and handover, drawing on the expertise of senior ECG personnel who have worked together for 30 + years.

We require a Project Engineer to join our Toronto based design team, To lead members of specific project teams ensuring engineering strategies, project standards and project scope are met and delivered to project cost targets, time frames and overall plans. Project manage a range of projects and provide advice and leadership to members of the Electrical Engineering group.

The role will be Toronto based, working with an established design team, however there may be occasional input on the studies and reports of our Perth and Brisbane office, as well as the coordination of works from our engineering office in Manila.

To be considered for the role of Project Engineer you need solid project engineering experience on complex high value electrical projects in an EPC(M) environment.

The tasks you'll perform:

  • The project engineer is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of the project, including establishing project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • They work with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and progress reports.
  • They must liaise with clients on projects Apply Strategies and standards to ensure project costs are contained, design parameters are met and resources are allocated effectively.
  • Ensure all project reporting required is actioned as per the specific project deadlines. Prepare and present reports to clients and others as required by the project scope.
  • Coordinate project meetings, regularly liaise with clients, and ensure general communication on projects is of a high standard.
  • Monitor closely the project budget and take responsibility for initiating corrective actions as required.
  • responsible for communicating with clients, stakeholders, and other project team members to ensure that project goals are met and to resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Ensure engineering change requests and technical queries raised by others are formalised and addressed with the project and to implement any changes identified as per ECG's change management procedures.
  • Document and report cost and schedule related changes in accordance with the site-specific organisation structure and systems.
  • Manage the review process for engineering deliverables ensuring checks and approvals are carried out as per ECG's engineering and quality procedures.
  • Co-ordinate resources to ensure full records are maintained in accordance with project requirements.

The expertise you'll bring:

  • Electrical engineering degree or applicable trade.
  • Sound Project Management experience
  • Significant field experience (essential)
  • Electrical design and construction experience (essential)
  • Mineral processing plant or related industry construction experience (essential)
  • Team leadership experience (essential)
  • Excellent computer skills – MS Project, Word, Excel, QDMS (or similar)
  • Ability to quickly pick up new software operating skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Proven ability to align with client and contractor relationships.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed people and leadership skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Advanced understanding and experience with safe working systems as they apply to mineral processing plants and international standards.
  • Ability to independently review and interpret reports, drawings and technical specifications and provide assistance to project team.
