UBC Investment Management is seeking an Investment Analyst with strong quantitative skills to support its Total Portfolio Management and risk management functions. The Investment Analyst will also regularly support the Investment Manager Selection and Investment Operations teams to provide a broad set of experiences within a sophisticated institutional portfolio management team.

About the Role
This role will report to the Director, Total Portfolio Management and is responsible for helping to implement UBC Investment Management’s investment framework and provide critical analysis and research to contribute to the ongoing management of our funds.
Its primary responsibilities include:
- Contributing to managing UBC Investment Management’s internal database and utilizing third-party software systems to conduct analysis;
- Assisting with conducting portfolio performance attribution analysis;
- Assisting Manager Selection team with due diligence and ongoing monitoring of investment fund managers;
- Assisting with analysis on UBC Investment Management’s Investment Programs and contributing to portfolio construction development;
- Monitoring financial market developments on an ongoing basis and contribute to reporting to internal team;
- Contributing to strategic projects advancing UBC Investment Management’s investment process and systems;
- Assisting with the preparation of regular and ad-hoc reporting requirements for UBC Investment Management’s Board and client portfolios;
- Regular risk and performance reporting to UBC Investment Management’s internal investment team.
Qualified candidates should possess the following:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics or similar quantitative discipline;
- 2-5 years’ of relevant experience working with institutional investment portfolios;
- Basic understanding of financial market concepts;
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, capable of in-depth analysis, keen attention to detail;
- Strong communication skills;
The following would be considered an asset:
- Experience with multiple investment asset classes;
- Working knowledge of investment performance attribution;
- Professional designation (or working towards) such as CFA;
- Experience or education in R, R Studio, Python, VBA, SQL;
- Experience using Bloomberg, Refinitiv and other investment analytical tools.

Total compensation will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications but is expected to have a base salary in the range of C$60,000 – C$110,000.
