We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Product to join our team and drive our product strategy and execution.


Position Overview:

Reporting to the President, the Director of Product Management will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of product management, new product development, engineering, sourcing, and procurement. This role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in factory negotiations, product marketing, and go-to-market strategies. The Director of Product will lead multiple teams, including Product Management, Sourcing and Procurement. This position is hybrid, requiring three days a week in the office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Product Management, Sourcing and Procurement teams.
  • Oversee new product development from concept to launch, ensuring alignment with market needs and company goals.
  • Drive factory negotiations to secure favorable terms and ensure product quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement sourcing and procurement strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Leadership to align product strategies with market demands and sales objectives.
  • Lead go-to-market strategies, including product marketing and launch plans with strong project management level detail.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration and communication between Product Development, Engineering and QA teams located in different regions, particularly in Asia.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform product strategy and innovation.
  • Manage budget and resource allocation for product development and procurement activities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the product teams.
  • Global travel will be required: 20%


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management, new product development, and sourcing/procurement.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams, including remote teams.
  • Strong background in factory negotiations and supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new products and driving go-to-market strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the appliance industry is a plus.
  • Pragmatic product management framework experience.
  • Fluent in Mandarin is considered an asset.

This role will be participating in Danbys hybrid work schedule. This will require that the successful candidate attend the physical workplace (5070 Whitelaw Road, Guelph, Ontario) every Tuesday, Thursday & Friday with the option of working from home the rest of the week.
