Our client is seeking a qualified Planner to join their Mining team in a full-time capacity. This position can be based in either Mississauga, Toronto, Edmonton, or Calgary offices. The Senior Planner will be responsible for preparing, executing, and monitoring project schedules to ensure that projects are delivered in line with client and company expectations. This role will involve significant collaboration with various stakeholders and oversight of other planners on the team.


About the Role:

The Senior Planner will be responsible for establishing and maintaining high-quality project schedules, conducting periodic reviews of the Project Master Schedule, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, analyzing schedule updates, providing mentorship to junior and intermediate schedulers, supporting project proposals, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements, and participating in health, safety, and environment initiatives.


Responsibilities:

  • Project Scheduling and Execution: Establish and maintain high-quality project schedules, including resourcing, logic sequencing, and duration estimation for all project phases.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Conduct periodic reviews of the Project Master Schedule (PMS) and track contractual progress performance.
  • Stakeholder Interface: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, procurement specialists, construction supervision, and management.
  • Analysis and Problem-Solving: Analyze schedule updates, identify critical or risk tasks, evaluate project progress against budgetary and deadline objectives.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Provide mentorship to junior and intermediate schedulers, contribute to their professional development.
  • Project Support: Support the preparation of schedules for written proposals, customer presentations, and other marketing/business development activities.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification is desired. 8 years ' post graduate experience in Planning and Scheduling within EPC/EPCM projects. Relevant experience in cost control, monitoring, and vendor management within the oil, gas, petrochemicals, and mining & infrastructure industries, preferably with Engineering or EPC Consultants. Proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 and CPM scheduling concepts. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
