Senior Data Analyst

6 Month Extendable Contract

Hybrid - Greater Toronto Area

Large Enterprise Client


What you’ll do:

- Collaborate with business and IT teams to create a data requirements document that aligns with corporate needs and industry standards.

- Analyze and evaluate user needs to develop data systems solutions that support overall business strategies. Bridge the gap between IT and business users to document system requirements, define scope and objectives, and assist in creating system specifications for data systems development and implementation.

- Demonstrate strong analysis and design skills in a multi-tier environment.

- Support development and testing by triaging and resolving data and financial issues, BAU defects, and enhancements.

- Assist in coordinating and participating in the analysis, design, development, unit testing, and maintenance of mission-critical business applications.

- Participate in R&D to introduce effective software development practices and methodologies that control costs and deliver quality data solutions on time, while fostering a motivated development team.

- Engage in special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed.

- Act as a point of contact to resolve business, technical, and solution-related challenges from delivery teams for optimal efficiency.

- Advocate for the importance of data catalogs, data governance, and data quality practices.


What you’ll bring:

- University degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

- Minimum 5 years of experience successfully contributing to Data Systems Analysis organizations, with expertise in building large-scale enterprise data assets.

- Over 8 years of experience as a Business Analyst working on mid-large projects involving data design, development, and implementation of business-critical enterprise data systems.

- Solid understanding and experience with data technologies and tools (Snowflake, Hadoop, PostgreSQL, Informatica, etc.).

- Proficiency in writing SQL scripts.

- Experience establishing documentation standards and frameworks for data quality, data governance, stewardship, and metadata management.

- Ability to understand complex business processes driving technical systems.

- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent stakeholder management.

- Proficiency in slide preparation and presentation skills.

- Solid understanding of Project and Program Management processes.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Insurance knowledge is a plus.
